Role Overview:

The Technical Sales Engineer works directly with distributors and end customers to develop and quote non-standard solutions using IMI products. 

Work Environment: Machesney Parl, IL M-F Hybrid

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Primary Responsibility is to satisfy any customer/distributor requests for quotes received across all product lines. Primary deliverable will be final quotations sent to distribution or to other internal sites within IMI.
  • Duties may require researching and understanding readily accessible information found in catalogs, ATP, and/or delivery materials.
  • Maintenance: Updating quotations, summary/trend analysis work such as sample effectiveness and quote summaries.
  • Provide technical assistance to customers/distributors requiring research or practical experience of product or application.
  • New and Maintenance: requiring the ability to carry out requests that will initiate or alter previously documented items such as previous quotes and margin analysis.
  • Technical: develop market information for product improvement, new product opportunities, etc. Author and maintain deviation schedules.
  • Informational: including gathering of information to enter into the customer database.
  • Communications: interact with internal and external customers through email, phone, and in-person meetings
  • Communications: partner with internal functions within IMI, including Quality, Customer Service, Production, and Engineering to provide customer solutions.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.  

 

Critical Competencies for Success:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering required. Preference for Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Solid understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, and electronics desired.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills including presentations to customers, peers, and executives. Writes and communicates technical reports. Solid technical writing skills (procedures, reports, etc.) 
  • Competent problem solving/troubleshooting skills. 
  • Ability to operate effectively in the project team environment and communicate with Customers. 
  • Understands manufacturing processes, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.  
  • Effective time management skills. 
  • ERP system experience desired 
  • Microsoft Office Suite and other productivity applications.

 

Pay range: $85k - $90k

Within this range, individual pay is determined based on skills, experience, and qualifications relative to the job requirements. Base pay information is aligned with market location and may be subject to prevailing wage laws, if applicable.
