Role Overview:

The Buyer provides day-to-day tactical procurement support for the purchase of Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) items and commodities. They will also provide procurement support to ensure the use of suppliers of best performance to IMI relative to quality, on-time delivery, total cost, and service. The individual must be able to effectively and efficiently communicate information internally and externally. The Buyer will purchase components and materials from external suppliers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Place orders with indirect MRO and commodity suppliers.
  • Prepare purchase order, claims, bids, proposals, and other commercial documents.
  • Expedite shipments to assure parts are delivered on schedule, at the negotiated price, and meets quality standards.
  • Communicate company requirements (price, delivery, specification revision) via timely and accurate transmission of purchase orders and change order to suppliers.
  • Follow up and expedite open purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Gather and update vendors’ data in database.
  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with other divisional functions and departments.
  • Support and adhere to divisional and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Critical Competencies for Success:

  • Associate degree in supply chain management or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (4 additional years accepted in place of an associate degree).
  • Ability to read and interpret business publications, policies, and procedures. 
  • Skilled in writing reports, business correspondence, and work instructions.
  • Able to present information clearly and respond to questions from managers, peers, and vendors.
  • Competent in calculating discounts, interest, proportions, and percentages.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to work through practical issues with limited standardization.
  • Able to prioritize both immediate issues and long‑term projects for efficient results.
  • Capable of navigating and managing data within database tables.
  • Solid understanding of MRP logic, scheduling concepts, and standard MRP system functions.
  •  Proficient in Microsoft Excel 
  • Familiarity with industry‑specific components related to company products.

 

Pay range: $28.77 - $35.50/hour

Within this range, individual pay is determined based on skills, experience, and qualifications relative to the job requirements. Base pay information is aligned with market location and may be subject to prevailing wage laws, if applicable.
