The Project Manager is responsible for leading and driving the successful delivery of Life Science projects in APAC, including Growth Hub initiatives, product localization projects, and application engineering projects. The role ensures projects are executed on time, within budget, and in accordance with agreed scope, quality, and business objectives. Working closely with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, Sales, and stakeholders, the Project Manager develops and executes project plans, manages risks and resources, drives cross-functional alignment, and ensures adherence to IMI project management and APQP processes. This position plays a critical role in accelerating business growth, supporting localisation strategies, and delivering innovative solutions that meet customer and market requirements within the Life Science sector. 

 

Main Responsibilities: 

Project Leadership & Delivery 

  • Lead and manage local Growth Hub, localization, and application engineering projects from initiation through completion. 

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, including scope, milestones, schedules, resources, budgets, and deliverables. 

  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with defined quality standards. 

  • Monitor project performance and drive timely corrective actions when project objectives are at risk. 

  • Evaluate project outcomes and ensure all deliverables are completed, validated, and formally closed. 

 

Risk & Change Management 

  • Proactively identify project risks, dependencies, and constraints and develop mitigation plans. 

  • Escalate critical issues appropriately and drive resolution across functional teams. 

  • Manage changes in scope, timelines, resources, or costs through structured change management processes. 

  • Support effective decision-making by providing transparent project status, impacts, and recommendations. 

 

Stakeholder Management 

  • Act as the primary liaison between engineering, operations, quality, supply chain, sales, product management, and leadership teams. 

  • Build strong relationships with local and global stakeholders to ensure alignment on project priorities and deliverables. 

  • Facilitate project meetings, reviews, and cross-functional discussions to drive accountability and progress. 

  • Communicate project status, risks, achievements, and escalation needs to the China Leadership Team and global stakeholders. 

 

APQP & Governance 

  • Ensure adherence to IMI project management standards, governance requirements, and APQP processes. 

  • Prepare and lead APQP Gate Reviews and sign-off presentations from Gate 1 through Gate 7. 

  • Ensure project documentation is accurate, complete, and maintained throughout the project lifecycle. 

  • Maintain project records, folders, lessons learned, and project archives in accordance with company standards. 

 

Financial & Business Case Management 

  • Develop robust business cases for new product development, localization, capital investment, and growth initiatives, including financial modeling, ROI, payback period, and strategic justification. 

  • Prepare and present project investment proposals for management review and approval. 

  • Establish project budgets and CAPEX forecasts, ensuring alignment with approved business cases. 

  • Monitor project costs, capital expenditure, and financial performance throughout the project lifecycle. 

  • Identify and manage financial risks, variances, and potential impacts to project profitability and investment returns. 

  • Track and report actual project results against approved business case assumptions, including revenue, margin, payback, and ROI metrics. 

  • Drive accountability across stakeholders to ensure projects deliver the expected financial and business outcomes. 

 

Continuous Improvement 

  • Identify opportunities to improve project management processes, tools, governance, and team effectiveness. 

  • Capture and share lessons learned to improve future project execution and organizational knowledge. 

  • Support the development of a strong project management culture across the Life Science organisation. 

 

Other Responsibilities 

  • Support strategic business initiatives as assigned by management. 

  • Undertake additional responsibilities aligned with business and organizational needs. 

 

Qualifications & Experience 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Project Management, or a related discipline from a recognised university. 

  • Project Management certification (PMP or equivalent) is preferred. 

  • Minimum 5 years of project management experience in engineering, manufacturing, industrial automation, life science, medical device, or related technical industries with a demonstrated track record of delivering cross-functional projects on-time and within budget. 

  • Experience managing cross-functional projects in a matrix organisation. 

  • Strong experience with APQP methodology, including FMEA, Control Plans, and product development processes. 

  • Strong financial acumen with experience developing business cases, evaluating investment opportunities, managing CAPEX budgets, and tracking ROI and payback performance. 

  • Demonstrated experience managing project schedules, budgets, resources, risks, and stakeholder expectations. 

  • Experience working with global teams and international stakeholders is highly desirable.
