Role Overview:
The Shipping & Receiving Coordinator is responsible for accurately and safely performing all operations necessary to receive, inspect, transport, store, package, and ship materials and products.
Work Environment: Rockford, IL Onsite
Key Responsibilities:
Shipping:
- Accurately picks product from warehouse shelves to fill orders.
- Places items in appropriate shipping containers and packs to ensure product integrity during transport
- Compares identifying information and quantities on the packing slip against the purchase order, counts items for verification, and indicates any discrepancies.
- Enters the purchase order by computer, which generates a packing slip and UPS label or other carrier’s bill of lading.
- Indicates sales order number on the shipping ticket and attaches it to the box envelope or skid.
- Processes return shipments to manufacturer for repairs, credit, or exchange.
- Manage inventory levels of shipping supplies including boxes and labels.
Receiving:
- Safely unloads incoming trucks and verifies incoming deliveries with bill of lading for quantity, any visible damage to packages or containers, and then signs for the delivery with driver.
- Receives packages by vendors, pulls the appropriate purchase order and packing slip from shipment.
- Verify quantities and part numbers to what we ordered.
- Accurately inspects, labels, color codes and repackages incoming orders as required.
- Check incoming items for status to go into stock, out to customers, to assembly, or to outside finishing or machining.
- Promptly and accurately notifies Purchasing of quantity or product discrepancies.
- Operate forklift (after training and certification), dock leveller and pallet jack.
- Assist in general maintenance and clean-up of warehouse.
- Performs other duties and assignments as directed by management.
- Ensures safety labelling of materials and chemicals received are compliant with OSHA standards.
- Forwards all received safety data sheets (SDS) to the Health and Safety Environment (HSE) Leader.
Critical Competencies for Success:
- 3+ year of previous shipping experience in a manufacturing setting required.
- Experience shipping through common carriers (e.g. UPS, FedEx, DHL) required.
- Experience shipping products internationally preferred.
- Experience scheduling courier pickups/deliveries preferred.
- Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, & Outlook)
- Experience in ERP/MRP systems preferred.
- Ability and willingness to stand and walk for the duration of an 8-hour shift.
- Ability to prioritize work and operate independently.
- Ability to regularly bend, reach, crouch, and lift up to 40 pounds.
- Familiarity with modern warehousing practices and methods, preferred.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
Pay range: $17-$24/hr
Within this range, individual pay is determined based on skills, experience, and qualifications relative to the job requirements. Base pay information is aligned with market location and may be subject to prevailing wage laws, if applicable.
