Overview:
Our Palmer location is a $50 million business focused on the manufacturing and development of cutting-edge products that serve a range of customers in the medical device and analytical instrumentation markets. Our products include electron multipliers, filaments, syringes, pumps, and valves.
Work Environment: This role is based on-site at our Palmer, MA location.
Role Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead process development and continuous improvement initiatives for life science equipment manufacturing. This role oversees high-precision assemblies including pumps, valves, motors, and glass syringes, and plays a critical role in driving operational excellence, safety, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and a passion for innovation in regulated environments.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of manufacturing engineers, process engineers, and technicians.
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Process Engineering & Optimization
- Develop and refine manufacturing processes for complex mechanical and glass-based assemblies.
- Implement Lean, Six Sigma, and PPI/DBS methodologies to improve yield, reduce scrap, and enhance efficiency.
- Drive automation and smart manufacturing initiatives.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Finance, and Production teams to align engineering solutions with business goals.
- Support new product introductions and scale-up activities.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure adherence to FDA, ISO 9001, ISO 13485, and GMP standards.
- Champion safety initiatives and ergonomic improvements across production lines.
Data-Driven Decision Making
- Analyze production data to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop and implement robust process controls, documentation, and validation protocols.
Capital Projects & Technology Selection
- Recommend, initiate, and manage capital projects to enhance manufacturing capabilities.
- Evaluate and implement new technologies to improve safety, quality, and throughput.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, including 2+ years in a leadership role.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical and glass fabrication processes.
- Strong understanding of machining, assembly, and inspection of precision components.
- Experience in life science, medical device, pharmaceutical, or analytical instrumentation manufacturing.
- Proficiency in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, and other process improvement methodologies.
- Excellent project management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills & Certifications
- Experience with automated manufacturing systems and robotics.
- Familiarity with ERP (e.g., SAP) and MES systems.
- Knowledge of FDA, ISO 9001, ISO 13485, and GMP regulatory frameworks.
- Certifications such as PMP, Six Sigma Black Belt, or CQE.

Pay range: $140,000 - $165,000 annually
Within this range, individual pay is determined based on skills, experience, and qualifications relative to the job requirements. Base pay information is aligned with market location and may be subject to prevailing wage laws, if applicable.
