Role Overview:
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for optimizing and improving manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness. This role leads process-driven initiatives, supports new product transitions, manages capital projects, and ensures the successful implementation of engineering changes within production. The Manufacturing Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement and maintain process stability.
Location: Onsite – Farmington, CT
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Process/Product Value Engineering (PPV) and Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) initiatives to improve cost, efficiency, and quality.
- Develop and maintain Process Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (PFMEAs) to identify and mitigate process risks.
- Perform cycle time studies and process verification to maintain BOM, Router, and Work Center accuracy.
- Support Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with the NPD team to transition designs from prototype to full-scale production.
- Develop and validate new manufacturing processes to ensure seamless production launches.
- Design and implement tooling and fixtures for assembly and test processes.
- Lead and execute Capital Expenditure (CapEx) projects for new or modified assembly/test equipment.
- Ensure manufacturing equipment and processes align with safety, quality, and efficiency standards.
- Serve as a key player in change management, qualifying process changes driven by product design updates.
- Work directly with Sustaining Engineering to ensure process modifications align with product changes.
- Conduct Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), and Performance Qualification (PQ) activities to validate process and product changes before implementation.
- Act as a subject matter expert in supporting Quality investigations related to process performance.
- Ensure all manufacturing processes meet regulatory, safety, and compliance standards.
- Develop and update work instructions to standardize processes for operators and technicians.
- Provide technical training and guidance to operators and support staff on new or modified processes.
Critical Competencies for Success
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in manufacturing process development, process engineering, or industrial engineering.
- Experience with process validation (IQ, OQ, PQ), Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma methodologies.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in JDE, Autodesk Inventor, Vault, BOM, Routers, PPAP, and Work Instructions.
- Strong knowledge of tooling/fixture design, process optimization, and equipment commissioning.
- Experience executing CapEx projects and managing change control processes.
Additional Competencies:
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Pay range: Minimum $75k – $85k
Within this range, individual pay is determined based on skills, experience, and qualifications relative to the job requirements. Base pay information is aligned with market location and may be subject to prevailing wage laws, if applicable.
