Role Overview:

The Assembly Supervisor will lead and oversee the assembly operations while and will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective assembly of products while upholding the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance. The Assembly Supervisor will manage a team of skilled assemblers, collaborate with cross-functional departments, and contribute to the continuous improvement of processes to optimize production and achieve organizational goals.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Supervision & Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of assemblers, providing guidance, support, and fostering a positive work environment where health and safety of our employees is of the utmost importance.
  • Set clear performance expectations, conduct regular performance reviews, and identify opportunities for employee growth and development.
  • Foster teamwork, effective communication, and collaboration across the assembly department and with other departments.

Assembly Operations

  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee daily assembly activities to ensure production schedules are met, products are assembled to specifications, and quality standards are maintained.
  • Monitor and manage assembly line efficiency, throughput, and productivity, making adjustments as necessary to meet production goals.
  • Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.

Quality Assurance

  • Implement and enforce rigorous quality control measures to ensure products meet or exceed established quality standards.
  • Conduct regular inspections, audits, and testing to identify and address any product defects or deviations from specifications.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Control department to investigate and resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions.

Process Improvement

  • Continuously evaluate assembly processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and develop and implement strategies to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize resource utilization.
  • Lead or participate in cross-functional teams to drive process improvement initiatives, root cause analyses, and implementation of best practices.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of assembly processes, production outputs, and quality control data.
  • Generate regular reports and metrics related to assembly performance, quality, and adherence to production schedules.

 

Critical Competencies for Success

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven experience in assembly operations, preferably within the life science or medical device manufacturing industry.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop a diverse team.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a keen attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles, process optimization, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proficiency in reading technical drawings, schematics, and assembly instructions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and adapt to a fast-paced and evolving work environment.
  • Knowledge of relevant safety and regulatory requirements in the life science manufacturing industry.
