Role Overview:
Develop and launch, under the procedures established in the Quality System and the IMI lean manufacturing philosophy; the manufacturing processes for the development of quality and low-cost products, as well as lead new projects and/or integrations to the operations engineering processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the successful launch of new projects, accordance with the procedures established by the company.
- Provide daily technical support to the assigned production lines, ensuring continuity and efficiency in the operation.
- Define and standardize the selection of cutting tools by part family or process, considering performance, availability, and cost.
- Provide the list of critical spare parts for new or modified tooling, as well as the latest level designs
- Monitor the performance of tools in the production process, using indicators such as useful life, frequency of change, and reasons for stoppage.
- Develop and maintain CNC programming standards (block structure, tool nomenclature, macros, cutting parameters) to ensure consistency between machines.
- Establish and apply optimised machining strategies, aimed at reducing cycle times without compromising the quality and safety of the process.
- Participate in technical negotiations with tool suppliers, seeking performance improvements, technical support and standardization
- Coordinate validation tests of new tools, including technical evaluation, cost-benefit analysis, and compatibility with existing equipment.
- Deliver robust manufacturing processes, meeting key performance indicators (Scrap, Efficiency, FPY), for release to production.
- Comply with the internal procedures required for the validation and release of new processes.
- Lead the preparation of master documents (FMEA & Flowchart), together with the multidisciplinary team.
- Implement new technologies and tools necessary for the manufacture of current and future products, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards
- Formally document any deviations in the process, in accordance with the internal procedures of the area.
- Prepare and keep updated the technical documentation of the manufacturing process.
- Actively promote the generation of savings in production processes, as well as the systematic elimination of waste.
- Define the inputs required for the manufacturing processes and collaborate with the purchasing area to guarantee their supply.
- Participate in analyses related to hazards, unsafe conditions, process changes, tools, or accidents, as assigned.
- Establish and implement corrective actions derived from non-conforming parts attributable to the process, using root cause analysis tools.
- Participate in quality, production, planning and engineering meetings, providing technical support as required.
- Define and document the standard times required for the creation of manufacturing routes. Develop standard worksheets for each process
- Analyze the technical and economic feasibility of new products or variations of existing products, estimating their manufacturing costs.
- To follow up and execute actions necessary for the fulfillment of their established individual objectives.
- Establish and execute changes in processes and documentation, related to engineering implementations, new products or specific customer requirements.
- Develop cost-benefit analyses to justify the acquisition of assets that drive business efficiency or growth.
- Coordinate and carry out the training of operational personnel in new processes, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
- Actively contribute to the fulfillment of the organization's environmental objectives, ensuring adherence to the environmental policy, as well as the applicable legal framework.
Critical Competencies for Success
- Bachelor's Degree / Finished Engineering (Specialty: Mechanical, Industrial, Mechatronics, or similar)
- At least 6 years of experience in Process Engineering Machining or similar positions.
- Interpretation of GD&T drawings.
- CNC programming for 4-axis vertical and horizontal milling machine.
- Experience in tuning in handling double spindle lathes. (Desirable on Okuma lathes)
- Experience in Swiss lathe set-up and programming. (Desirable around Tsugami and Citizen)
- Knowledge in Fanuc, Mazatrol, Siemens controls.
- High knowledge in the application of cutting tools for various ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
- Experience in the development of concepts for fastening tools.
- Experience in feasibility evaluation and quotations of machining processes.
- Experience in the execution in the launch of new projects.
- Root cause analysis and solution of technical problems in machining.
- Handling of tolerances and surface finishes.
- Knowledge in management and control of the useful life of cutting tools.
- Knowledge in validation process. (CPK, R&R, capability studies)
