Role Overview:

The Quality Engineer II needs to guarantee compliance with the IMI Precision Quality System, as well as enforce specific customer requirements, address quality problems reported by external and internal customers, working in team with the different areas in the problem solving, ensuring customer satisfaction with the authority to stop any process that does not meet requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Advanced Quality Planning of new products or engineering changes.
  • Generate and update Quality documentation in production lines, such as: Control Plans, Visual Aids, Instructions for the use of measuring instruments and Inspection Instructions.
  •  Train operating personnel in the use of the Quality System documentation and statistical interpretation
  • Lead client approvals and PPAP validations; participate in the validations of new projects and engineering changes.
  • Realize qualification of products and processes in production cells and Quality Laboratory.
  • Ensure daily process audits (LPA).
  • Provide daily support in production areas, to address internal quality problems and work as a team with the different production lines.
  • Stop any process that does not meet the requirements, in accordance with the problem escalation procedure.
  • Coordinate the daily Non-Compliant Material meetings with the multidisciplinary team on the production lines, ensuring the daily disposition of the material, avoiding accumulation of material due to lack of disposition
  • Advise on compliance with the SPC in production lines and MSA development, where applicable.
  • Analyze the return of customer parts (RMA), derived from a claim, ensuring the response to the customer and disposition of the material within the defined period.
  • Coordinate containment actions in the supply chain (customer plant, warehouse in Laredo, warehouse in IMI Querétaro and assembly lines).
  • Be a facilitator of problem-solving techniques with the multidisciplinary team, complying with the times indicated by clients or the IMI Precision procedure, as applicable. (Ishikawa, 8D, 5W-2H, TLC, etc.).
  • Assist with advanced problem-solving techniques in undefining unknown or complex root causes, using Design of Experiments.
  • Lead Reverse FMEAs with the multidisciplinary team.

 

Critical Competencies for Success

·         Bachelor’s degree Industrial Engineering, or any similar degree.

·         5 - 10 years of experience in Quality, suppliers, processes or manufacturing in the Automotive and Metalworking Industry.

·          

a)    Knowledge of IATF-16949, ISO-9001, VDA Standards.

b)    Knowledge of AIAG CQI (Special Processes).

c)     Knowledge of interpretation of Drawings and GD&T.

d)    Knowledge of Core Tools (APQP, Control Plan, MSA, SPC, PPAP, PFMEA)

e)    Knowledge of analysis and problem-solving techniques (8D, Ishikawa, 5W-2H, etc.)
