Role Overview:
The Material Planner at IMI University Park is responsible for balancing the supply of materials with incoming demand while ensuring that production and operations have timely access to necessary materials. This role involves managing supplier relationships, adjusting orders as needed, and collaborating with various stakeholders to optimize material planning processes.
Preferred Location: University Park, onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of the material plan for the site based on requirements.
- Ensure the accuracy of aggregate supplier schedules for the site.
- Manage exceptions generated from the Advanced Planning System, balancing supplier capability with plant/operations needs.
- Actively manage supplier commitment into the material plan to assess impact on build plans for the site.
- Engage in the process of allocating constrained supply.
- Generate and validate supplier scorecards.
- Actively manage supplier performance, identify suboptimal performance, drive accountability for improvement, and escalate to the Supply Continuity team ahead of potential disruption.
- Interact with demand and supply planning teams to understand changing demand (volume and mix) that may drive potential risk to suppliers and manage the outcome accordingly.
- Provide input to enable inventory repositioning.
- Interpret, analyze, and improve necessary Key Performance Indicators.
Core competencies of success
- College or university degree required. Preferably within supply chain or equivalent.
- At least 2 years’ experience of materials planning and managing the smooth supply of materials in line with production requirements and budget, ideally within a fast-paced production of discrete manufacturing.
- Proficient in using materials planning systems to manage supply and demand plans. Preferably with experience in Oracle and ASCP/ SAP and APO
- Knowledge of inventory management and optimization strategies.
- Skilled in using ad-hoc tools such as Excel, Access, TOAD, OMS, etc., for problem-solving while leveraging the materials planning system as the primary tool.
- Experienced in evaluating and implementing engineering change requests (e.g., obsolescence, supersessions, new part releases).
- Proficient in using PFEP principles for planning, designing, and managing systems and processes within a facility.
- Skilled in using advanced tools (e.g., Advanced Planning Command Centre, Business Intelligence Dashboards) for decision-making related to parts availability, inventory optimization, and root cause analysis.
- Capable of operating based on recent or historical outputs compared to organizational expectations.
- Knowledge of lean techniques may be advantageous
- Membership of an appropriate professional body such as the APICS would be beneficial

Salary range: $75-$85k
Within this range, individual pay is determined based on skills, experience, and qualifications relative to the job requirements. Base pay information is aligned with market location and may be subject to prevailing wage laws, if applicable.
