Role Overview:
The HSE Manager at IMI Buschjost GmbH serves as the appointed Safety Specialist. They support and advise management, the leadership team, and supervisors on all occupational safety matters—especially in risk assessments, internal changes, training design, and implementing safety programs. This role reports directly to the local site manager and functionally to the Divisional HSE Director Europe. The HSE Manager participates in internal and cross-site audits within the IMI Group.. The clear goal is to implement a Zero Accident Strategy.
Work Environment: This role can be based at our site in Bad Oeynhausen (Germany). It offers hybrid working options, typically three days a week onsite and two days working from home. Travel approximately 10%.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the site leadership team to advance and develop the company’s HSE strategy, leveraging innovation and best practices to support sustainable development.
- Serve as the Safety Specialist at the Bad Oeynhausen site.
- Implement and ensure compliance with the IMI HSE Excellence Framework and ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 standards.
- In case it will be decided to apply for it leading the site certification for ISO 45001.
- Developing and setting goals and objectives that are consistent with the business unit and group objectives, monitoring progress and tracking corporate performance
- Lead, coach, and guide the site team, fostering a culture of HSE excellence and accountability.
- Define and implement standards and procedures.
- Support and assist in creating and maintaining risk assessments.
- Conduct training and instruction sessions
Critical Competencies for Success:
- Degree in engineering or natural sciences, or technical training.
- Certified Safety Specialist according to §6 ASiG and DGUV Regulation 2.
- Several years of experience in EHS/HSE management, ideally in an industrial and international environment.
- Knowledge of relevant ISO accreditation frameworks and auditing of management systems is an advantage.
- Experience in a global manufacturing/technology company with a balance of strategic and operational work.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations, hazard identification, risk assessment, and emergency measures, along with comprehensive knowledge of legal frameworks, regulations, standards, and guidelines.
- Ability to develop a safety culture and influence leaders and stakeholders.
- Analytical, solution-oriented, and pragmatic working style.
- Strong communication and persuasion skills.
- Good command of English, both written and spoken.
