Role Overview:
The Senior Cost Accountant will be an important development role within the Finance function. Reporting to the site Finance Director, the role will be central to the completion and reporting of financial and business reporting, developing ad-hoc analysis and performing financial analysis to drive improvement in performance.
The role will require monitoring and application of cost accounting principals to ensure manufacturing activity remains well controlled, efficient and opportunities to improve are identified and communicated.
Additionally, the role is central to the site’s FP&A analysis; delivering key reporting, identifying trends, challenging the business and supporting high quality forecasts.
Work Environment: University Park, IL - Hybrid
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyzes actual manufacturing costs compared to standard costs to ensure accuracy of standards and provide insight on any over/under absorption.
- Be responsible for obsolete inventory reporting, analysis and management overrides.
- Business partner with our Supply Chain team to understand current purchase price variances and trends to make necessary updates to standard costs. Additionally, work with Supply Chain to co-ordinate and control inventory counts; with the aim of removing our annual count and embedding a perpetual counting process.
- Scrap Reporting - Partner with Quality Assurance (QA) to help identify, understand and reduce scrap.
- Support the site Finance Director with regular FP&A reporting and analysis, identifying trends in performance to drive performance and improve future forecasts.
- Provides management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services.
- Manages the execution of the annual cost roll and works collaboratively with various departments to maintain precise and reliable data.
- Conducts thorough reviews of job variances and partners with cross-functional teams to determine root causes and drive improvements
- Be able to identify a new business need and support development of the required information and reporting
- Deputise for the site Finance Director as required.
- Ad-hoc analysis and projects as required.
Critical Competencies for Success:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field, CPA or CMA is preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills
- 3+ years in a Cost Accounting manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated financial acumen delivering forecasting, variance analysis and data interpretation of results.
- Ability to problem solve and work with ambiguity to resolve issues.
- Excellent business communication skills in English
- Previous experience of Oracle would be an advantage, but not essential.

Pay range: $92-$102k
Within this range, individual pay is determined based on skills, experience, and qualifications relative to the job requirements. Base pay information is aligned with market location and may be subject to prevailing wage laws, if applicable.
Bonus eligibility: This position is also eligible for a variable incentive pay component, separate from base salary.
